CM Reddy Pushes for Hyderabad Land Transfer

In a strategic move to enhance Hyderabad’s infrastructure, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Delhi on Monday. The chief minister’s agenda focused on advocating for the transfer of 2,450 acres of defence land to the state government, which is crucial for widening roads and advancing civic infrastructure projects in the city.

An official statement highlighted the need for this land transfer to facilitate Hyderabad’s burgeoning development. Notably, the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a key defence establishment, occupies 2,462 acres of state government land in close proximity. Chief Minister Reddy proposed a mutual exchange of lands to benefit both the state and defence sectors.

In addition to the land transfer, Reddy urged Minister Khattar to approve the construction of 2.70 lakh houses under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) model for the financial year 2024-25. This housing initiative aims to address the residential needs of the state’s population, aligning with broader urban development goals.

The chief minister’s proactive engagement with central ministers underscores Telangana’s commitment to infrastructural growth and urban development. By securing the transfer of defence land, the state aims to streamline road expansion and civic projects, thereby enhancing the overall urban landscape of Hyderabad.

This land transfer is pivotal in alleviating infrastructural bottlenecks and meeting the demands of Hyderabad’s rapidly growing population. The proposed exchange of lands between the state and defence establishments represents a strategic approach to urban development, ensuring that both sectors benefit from the arrangement.

As Telangana awaits the Centre’s response, the focus remains on how this strategic land transfer will pave the way for significant infrastructural advancements, reinforcing Hyderabad’s position as a key urban centre in India.
