Maharashtra Government Approves Merger Of Pune Khadki Cantonments With PMC
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday inaugurated multiple development projects totalling over ₹218 crore in Hingoli district, aiming to significantly improve public infrastructure, health services, and religious tourism.
At a function organised by the district administration at Ramlila Maidan, Fadnavis launched the new building of the Hingoli Panchayat Samiti, constructed at a cost of ₹10 crore. Until now, the Panchayat office operated from an ageing Nizam-era structure that had fallen into disrepair. The new premises are expected to provide modern facilities and improved working conditions for administrative staff. Among the major announcements was the laying of the foundation stone for road development works worth ₹114 crore. This scheme is expected to enhance regional connectivity and boost economic activity in the area. In a key religious tourism initiative, Fadnavis also laid the foundation stone for the beautification of the Sant Namdev Maharaj temple at Narsi Namdev, the saint’s birthplace. The state has sanctioned ₹10 crore for the project, which aims to enhance pilgrimage infrastructure and attract more visitors.
The Chief Minister also launched the construction of a Government Medical College in Hingoli, a move seen as vital for improving healthcare access in the region. Additionally, a new water supply scheme for Hingoli city was announced, with a budget allocation of ₹84 crore. The project is intended to provide a long-term solution to the city’s water needs and ensure better service delivery to residents. Speaking at the event, Fadnavis reiterated the government’s commitment to balanced regional development and modernisation of public services. He emphasised the role of quality infrastructure in driving growth and improving the standard of living in semi-urban and rural parts of Maharashtra. The function was attended by Minister of State Meghna Bordikar, MLAs Tanhaji Mutkule and Hemant Patil, BJP district president Gajanan Ghuge, Babarao Bangar, Shivaji Mutkule and other local leaders.
The day’s announcements signal a significant investment in Hingoli’s future, with a focus on sustainable growth and improved access to essential services. The projects are expected to generate employment opportunities during the construction phase and improve the quality of life for residents in the long term.
