Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has issued a strong warning to prospective homebuyers regarding false rumours circulating about the availability of affordable housing units in Navi Mumbai. The authority has clarified that no such housing schemes are currently available for sale, despite widespread misinformation on social media.
Cidco’s appeal comes in response to misleading claims about the launch of affordable housing schemes under various mass housing projects. The authority emphasised that while it is actively engaged in constructing affordable units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), none of these projects have been officially launched for sale at this time. A Cidco spokesperson stated, “There has been a significant amount of false information circulating online regarding the sale of affordable housing units. We urge the public to exercise caution and verify any information through official channels before making any decisions. As of now, no formal announcements or launches have been made regarding the sale of housing units. It is crucial for citizens to consult only verified sources to avoid confusion and potential scams.”
The spread of incorrect information has led to increased public confusion and concern among potential buyers. Cidco’s current focus is on the development of housing units in line with the PMAY scheme, aimed at providing affordable housing solutions across Navi Mumbai. However, until official notifications are issued, the public is advised to disregard any claims about ongoing or upcoming sales. The authority’s appeal highlights the need for vigilance in an era where misinformation can easily mislead consumers. Cidco is committed to transparency and will ensure that all official information regarding housing schemes is communicated through proper channels.
