CIDCO Partners With NMMC To Build Navi Mumbais Largest And Most Advanced Fire Station In Kamothe

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), in collaboration with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC), is set to build the region’s largest and most advanced fire station in Kamothe. The upcoming ₹28-crore project, spread across a 7,000-square-metre plot, aims to strengthen disaster management infrastructure in one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban belts.

The proposed station, located strategically opposite Mansarovar Railway Station and within proximity to the Navi Mumbai International Airport, will significantly improve emergency response time in high-density residential and commercial zones. The municipal authorities have already cleared the budget, and the project will move into the construction phase following the completion of the tendering process. According to senior civic officials, the Kamothe facility will feature cutting-edge firefighting systems and will be designed as a multi-agency control hub. It will host a joint command centre integrating operations of CIDCO, NMMC, and PMC. This unified control room will enable real-time monitoring, quick coordination, and efficient deployment of fire services across the region, particularly critical for high-rise developments and industrial clusters emerging around Panvel and Kamothe.

Once operational, the fire station will deploy two high-capacity fire tenders and house around 40 trained personnel. The addition will bolster PMC’s existing fire brigade strength, which currently includes 16 tenders and 158 staff members. Officials have indicated that the new centre will add another 40–50 firefighters to the region’s emergency response force. The new station’s technical specifications are designed to support complex rescue operations in vertical structures. PMC currently operates a fire engine capable of reaching up to the seventh floor of buildings, while CIDCO and NMMC have access to equipment that can tackle fires as high as the 22nd floor. To further strengthen the regional response network, procurement of three new modern fire tenders is already underway.

Experts highlight that this integrated facility is more than an infrastructural upgrade—it represents a model of inter-agency collaboration for safer and more resilient urban growth. With Navi Mumbai and Panvel witnessing rapid vertical and industrial expansion, improved fire preparedness is critical to protect both lives and property. Urban planners view this as part of a broader shift towards creating safer, self-reliant, and sustainable urban systems. By centralising firefighting, communication, and command systems, the Kamothe fire station is poised to become a benchmark for disaster management efficiency in Maharashtra’s urban regions.

Once completed, this state-of-the-art facility will not only serve as a safety hub for Navi Mumbai and Panvel but will also strengthen the city’s readiness for its next stage of infrastructural and population growth.
