Kharghar: In a timely enhancement of Kharghar’s infrastructure, CIDCO has inaugurated a new bridge, marking a significant upgrade in the area’s connectivity just in time for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The new bridge, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹1 crore, provides a direct route from the Sion-Panvel Highway to Kharghar Colony via the Kopra Bridge.
Previously, the bridge at this location was limited to light vehicles, leading to persistent demands from motorists for a more substantial and capable structure. Addressing these concerns, CIDCO has replaced the temporary bridge, which was originally set up during the Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony, with a permanent solution. The newly completed bridge spans 22 metres in width and extends 7.5 metres in length, built on the creek bed to accommodate a higher volume of traffic.
The new bridge aims to alleviate long-standing traffic congestion issues by providing a smoother, more efficient route from Sector 12 to Sector 35. In response to anticipated high traffic volumes, high gates will be installed to manage and control heavy traffic, ensuring a streamlined travel experience. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to significantly enhance commuter convenience and reduce delays, marking a noteworthy improvement in Kharghar’s road network. The new bridge not only facilitates easier access to Kharghar Colony but also represents a crucial development in addressing the area’s traffic management challenges.
