CIDCO, the City and Industrial Development Corporation, is on the verge of completing a significant housing project aimed at rehabilitating victims of the Irshalwadi disaster. This initiative, costing Rs. 33 crores, has reached its final stages, with efforts focused on ensuring all 44 residential units and associated amenities are ready for possession by July 31.
Located in Raigad district, the project was initiated following the allocation of 2.6 hectares of land by the Raigad Collector, swiftly transformed into 44 residential plots, each spanning 300 square meters. To mitigate future risks, CIDCO has erected a robust RCC protection wall measuring 8-9 meters around the elevated site, enhancing safety measures for residents.Key facilities integral to the community’s well-being are also nearing completion, including an Anganwadi (childcare centre), a community temple, garden spaces, a primary health centre, school infrastructure, and a playground. These amenities underscore CIDCO’s comprehensive approach to supporting the rehabilitated residents.
Despite initial delays attributed to adverse weather conditions, CIDCO commenced construction in November 2023, achieving significant milestones. Presently, 30 houses have been completed, with the remaining 14 units in the final stages of construction. The project encompasses essential infrastructure development such as water supply, electricity, and road connectivity, essential for sustaining community livelihoods.Under the leadership of its Managing Director and the diligent efforts of its engineering department, CIDCO has effectively managed challenges including land levelling, protection wall construction, and overall infrastructure development. This proactive approach sets a benchmark in efficient disaster rehabilitation and underscores CIDCO’s commitment to delivering quality housing solutions.The upcoming transfer of possession to the Raigad Collector marks a pivotal moment in CIDCO’s humanitarian efforts, exemplifying its role in fostering resilient communities amidst adversity.
