The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has issued a stern warning to citizens about fraudulent housing schemes being falsely promoted on social media. The agency has emphasised that it has not introduced any new housing schemes and urged the public to rely solely on official channels for accurate information.
CIDCO, known for its role in developing affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), has reported a surge in misinformation regarding its Mass Housing Scheme. The planning authority has clarified that, contrary to the misleading ads circulating online, it has not launched any new housing schemes for sale. For legitimate queries related to CIDCO’s housing schemes or application processes, citizens can visit the Nivara Kendra on the 7th Floor of Belapur Railway Station or the Marketing (Housing) Department on the 3rd Floor of Raigad Bhavan, both in Navi Mumbai.
The agency’s Public Relations Department has cautioned against falling victim to false advertisements and dubious schemes. “CIDCO has not appointed any service centre or agency for the sale of housing units. We advise the public to avoid engaging with unverified sources or individuals promoting fake schemes,” stated the department. The agency has also underscored that it will not be responsible for any financial losses incurred by individuals deceived by such scams.
In its effort to combat misinformation, CIDCO has urged anyone encountering misleading news or fraudulent claims to file a formal complaint with its Vigilance Department. Complaints can be submitted to CIDCO’s Vigilance Department, located on the 6th Floor of CIDCO Bhavan. This proactive measure by CIDCO aims to safeguard potential homebuyers from the rising menace of online scams and ensure that all housing-related transactions are conducted through official and verified channels.
