China has unveiled its first-ever commercial suspended monorail, making its debut in Wuhan. This state-of-the-art transportation system is set to redefine urban travel with its innovative design and operational efficiency.
The initial phase of the suspended monorail project spans a total distance of 10.5 km and includes six strategically located stations. Operated by Optics Valley Traffic Company, this suspended monorail is poised to become a new symbol of modern urban transit.
The suspended monorail operates daily for 12 hours, offering a convenient and frequent service with monorails departing every 10 minutes. One of the remarkable features of this transit system is its maximum operating speed, with the monorail trains capable of reaching speed up to 60 km per hour.
The monorail train, named Optics Valley Photon, features a distinctive design. As it operates on an elevated track, passengers are offered a unique perspective on the cityscape beneath them through the glass floor beneath their feet, creating an immersive experience for riders.
