Madhya Pradesh has taken a significant leap in intra-state connectivity with the launch of the ‘PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Seva’, inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The initiative, flagged off with the first flight from Bhopal to Jabalpur, aims to enhance regional connectivity across major cities including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Rewa, Khajuraho, and Singrauli.
The launch event saw Chief Minister Yadav personally distributing boarding passes and inaugurating ticket-booking counters, underscoring the state government’s commitment to improving air travel accessibility within Madhya Pradesh. Operated under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in collaboration with Jet Serv Aviation Private Limited (Flyola), the service is poised to stimulate tourism and business travel, thereby boosting economic activities across the state.
This initiative is expected to revolutionize travel dynamics by offering a faster and more convenient mode of transport compared to conventional rail and road options. For instance, the flight from Bhopal to Indore, which traditionally consumes several hours by train or road, now takes a mere 55 minutes by air. Such time-saving benefits are likely to attract both business travellers seeking efficient connectivity and tourists exploring Madhya Pradesh’s diverse cultural and historical offerings.
To encourage early adoption, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) has announced a 50% discount on fares for the first 30 days of operation. This promotional strategy aims to familiarize residents and visitors with the affordability and efficiency of air travel within the state. Travellers have noted that the discounted fares are competitively priced, making them a viable alternative to existing transportation options such as the Vande Bharat Express train.
Moreover, the introduction of intra-state flights is expected to alleviate congestion on roads and railways while reducing overall travel time and enhancing passenger comfort. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to bolster infrastructure and promote regional connectivity as part of Madhya Pradesh’s development agenda.
