The Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Saturday flagged off the inaugural special train of the Dr MGR Chennai Central – Bhagat ki Kothi (Jodhpur) Super Fast Express.
The virtual event was hosted from Pune Railway Station, a location that now plays a key role in regional railway development. The launch event saw key officials joining from various locations, including Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan, who participated virtually from Mumbai. The ceremony at Dr MGR Chennai Central also witnessed the presence of prominent figures such as BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan, as well as representatives from the Southern Railway, Rajasthani Association, Bharat Mata Association, and numerous rail passengers.
This new service is part of the Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to enhance intercity connectivity and promote faster, more efficient travel between southern and northern regions of India. The Chennai-Jodhpur express aims to serve as a vital link for passengers travelling between the two cities, cutting down travel time significantly with its superfast schedule.
