Chennai Berger Paints Sun TV Launch Mural Honouring Superstar Fifty Year Legacy
Chennai came alive with a grand artistic tribute as Berger Paints, in collaboration with Sun TV, unveiled a mural celebrating a superstar’s fifty-year cinematic journey. The initiative features 50 vibrant artworks, including a 40-foot master mural, tracing the actor’s evolution from debut to cultural icon, while incorporating 50 messages from fans across India. The launch at VELS Trade & Convention Centre also showcased a curated gallery of artworks reflecting the superstar’s most memorable on-screen eras, blending heritage and modernity.
Company executives highlighted that the project mirrors Berger Paints’ own century-long presence in India, emphasising longevity, reinvention, and relevance. The murals are inspired by the cultural fabric of Tamil Nadu, the birthplace of the superstar’s legacy, while acknowledging his nationwide and international fan following. Organisers noted that the initiative not only celebrates cinematic achievements but also reinforces the brand’s dedication to promoting India’s rich palette of colours and artistic expression.Following the Chennai unveiling, the murals will embark on a “Mural Yatra” across Tamil Nadu, reaching local communities through Berger Paints’ extensive network of over 2,000 dealers, 22,000 applicators, and 1,000 engineers. The travelling exhibition aims to democratise access to large-scale public art, transforming urban and neighbourhood spaces into vibrant cultural landmarks. Residents will be able to experience the artworks firsthand, bridging city planning, public art, and cultural engagement in innovative ways.
Urban design experts note that such mural projects contribute to more inclusive and engaging urban spaces. Large-format public art can animate streets, encourage community interaction, and foster a sense of shared identity, particularly in densely built cities like Chennai. By integrating visual storytelling with urban landscapes, the project demonstrates how creative initiatives can enhance city aesthetics while celebrating regional culture and collective memory.
The campaign underscores the potential of corporate-led art initiatives to complement urban development. By combining storytelling, local craftsmanship, and wide public visibility, the mural series celebrates a cinematic legend while embedding cultural vibrancy into cityscapes. The effort highlights how art, commerce, and community engagement can intersect to create emotionally resonant urban environments that reflect both heritage and contemporary creativity.
