Key initiatives include the renovation of the Government Senior Secondary School at Kajheri village, along with a complete reconstruction of the Government Model School at Karsan, Phase-1 Ram Darbar. Additionally, a new government high school will be constructed in Sarangpur, and a fresh educational facility is planned for Dhanas, a locality that has long needed better educational access. The sector is set to receive more than Rs 220 crore for upgrades and expansions, with a focus on creating international-standard sports complexes. A flagship project includes the development of a multi-purpose hall at the Sector 42 stadium, which will cater to a wide range of sports disciplines, including badminton, wrestling, boxing, and gymnastics. The project will be developed on a 20-acre plot and aims to host both national and international sporting events. Experts believe this investment will not only enhance the city’s sporting infrastructure but also encourage youth participation in competitive sports.
In addition to the multi-purpose hall, the stadium will receive upgrades such as a new astro-turf in the Hockey Ground and improved lighting systems for the Sector 7 and 42 sports complexes. Chandigarh’s development strategy also includes a focus on housing. The administration is set to build 268 new government houses for both police personnel and general UT employees.
