The Central Railway has announced that 12 air-conditioned local trains will run as non-AC services today, Friday, 13th September 2024. This operational shift, which will be in effect from 08:45 am to 11:12 pm, is attributed to an unspecified technical issue affecting the AC train services.
The Central Railway’s Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office has informed commuters that those holding tickets or passes for AC services will need to travel in the non-AC coaches for the day. The rail authority anticipates that normal AC train operations will resume by Saturday, barring any further complications. The Central Railway’s announcement was made public via their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where they detailed the adjustment to the train schedules. Despite this communication, a spokesperson for the Central Railway stated that the precise nature of the technical malfunction remains unclear, though they have promised to investigate further.
This technical glitch follows recent disruptions experienced during the Ganpati festival. On Wednesday, 11th September, the Gitanjali Express encountered an unexpected halt at Titwala station, causing significant delays and affecting the central line’s services during peak morning hours. The recurrence of such issues underscores the challenges faced by the railway network in maintaining smooth operations during peak travel periods. Commuters are advised to check real-time updates and adjust their travel plans accordingly to mitigate the impact of these disruptions.
