Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, born on April 14, 1891, was an eminent jurist, economist, and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination and supported the rights of Dalits, women, and workers. His monumental contributions to India’s social and legal landscape include drafting the Indian Constitution. In recognition of his work, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1990. Mahaparinirvan Divas marks the anniversary of his passing on December 6, 1956, a day of remembrance for millions across the country.
