Central Railway Mega Block Update Key Train Schedule Changes for February 2 in Mumbai
In a bid to enhance infrastructural integrity and ensure long-term safety, Central Railway has scheduled a mega block on its main suburban lines this Sunday, February 2. This strategic maintenance operation is set to affect the local train network between Matunga and Mulund, prompting significant alterations in the usual train operations. The railway authorities have affirmed that no mega block will be implemented on the Harbour and Trans Harbour lines.
The planned intervention on the UP and DOWN FAST lines will commence at 11.30 am and extend until 3.30 pm. During this window, DOWN FAST services departing from CSMT Mumbai between 10.58 am and 03.10 pm will be rerouted onto the DOWN SLOW line at Matunga. Trains will adhere to their scheduled stops between Matunga and Mulund, albeit with an estimated delay of 15 minutes upon reaching their final destination. In a similar vein, UP FAST services departing from Thane between 11.25 am and 3.27 pm will be diverted to the UP SLOW line at Mulund, with a subsequent re-routing onto the UP FAST line at Matunga, also resulting in a 15-minute delay. These operational adjustments are deemed necessary to facilitate comprehensive engineering and maintenance works along the section.
Additionally, the railway administration has announced special traffic and power blocks for the nocturnal launching of FOB main girders between Kalyan and Vangani. This operation, scheduled to span the night of February 1 and 2, will be executed in three sections. The block is anticipated to impact the regular flow of Mail/Express trains, necessitating diversions via the Karjat–Panvel route. Affected trains include the Bhubaneshwar–CSMT Konark Express (Train No. 11020), Vishakhapatnam–LTT Express (Train No. 18519), Hyderabad–CSMT Hussainsagar Express (Train No. 12702), and Hosapete–CSMT Express (Train No. 11140). These adjustments are essential to maintain the momentum of critical engineering works while minimising operational disruptions.
Central Railway has underscored the indispensability of these maintenance measures for bolstering infrastructure reliability and overall safety. Commuters are advised to stay informed about the diversions and expect slight delays. The railway administration has assured passengers that these temporary inconveniences will pave the way for a safer and more efficient network in the long run.
