Navi Mumbai is taking significant steps towards implementation of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scheme, with initiation of a biometric survey in the region’s slums. This endeavour, led by MMR-SRA officials, follows in-principle approval from Industries Minister Uday Samant to implement SRA in Navi Mumbai. The SRA scheme aims to rehabilitate slum dwellers by providing them with proper housing, benefiting an estimated 50,000 residents.
The comprehensive survey involves numbering houses, measuring their areas, collecting fingerprints and photographs of residents using biometric systems, capturing images of entire families in front of their homes, and conducting videography of the location. 11110
Navi Mumbai is emerging as an IT hub, and the presence of slums adjacent to IT companies doesn’t reflect well on the city’s growth. The focus is on making Navi Mumbai slum-free while delivering better living conditions for residents.
As the biometric survey progresses, Navi Mumbai remains committed to addressing the housing needs of its slum dwellers. The SRA scheme aims to transform the lives of thousands of residents by providing them with proper housing and essential amenities.
