Bihar Introduces Two Amrit Bharat Express Trains Enhancing Connectivity Nationwide
Bihar is set to witness a significant boost in inter-state rail connectivity with the introduction of two new Amrit Bharat Express trains linking Muzaffarpur–Hyderabad and Darbhanga–Ajmer. Scheduled for inauguration on September 29, 2025, these services aim to provide faster, safer, and more comfortable travel options for passengers, while supporting economic growth and regional mobility across underserved corridors.
The Muzaffarpur–Hyderabad Amrit Bharat Express will replace certain existing services, reducing travel time for passengers commuting between North Bihar and Telangana. Operating weekly, the train will cover approximately 1,889 kilometres, offering modern facilities including sleeper and general unreserved coaches, bio-toilets, and pantry services. Officials highlight that the service is expected to alleviate congestion on night trains along this route and enhance overall passenger convenience.
Similarly, the Darbhanga–Ajmer service will strengthen connectivity between eastern Bihar and western Rajasthan. The weekly train will span around 1,305 kilometres, providing both long-distance travellers and regular commuters access to well-equipped coaches. Experts point out that the route is expected to support trade and travel between key economic zones, bridging gaps in regional mobility and enabling efficient passenger movement.Both trains are integral components of Indian Railways’ broader Amrit Bharat initiative, which focuses on enhancing inter-state connectivity, ensuring passenger safety, and providing sustainable, comfortable, and affordable transport. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of promoting equitable and zero-carbon transportation solutions, particularly in regions where travel infrastructure has historically been limited.
Railway officials emphasised that these services are designed to reduce travel stress, improve operational efficiency, and encourage the use of environmentally friendly electric locomotives along electrified sections.
