Bidar Bengaluru Special Trains Begin Operations Connecting Key Karnataka Towns
The Indian Railways has inaugurated special train services between Bidar and Bengaluru Cantt stations, enhancing connectivity across key districts of Karnataka. The new services aim to facilitate smoother travel for commuters and strengthen links between northern Karnataka and the state capital. The initiative underscores the railways’ focus on regional accessibility and sustainable transport infrastructure.
The newly launched 07063 and 07064 special trains will operate overnight in both directions. The Bidar to Bengaluru Cantt service departs at 14:40 hrs and arrives the following morning at 05:00 hrs, while the return service departs Bengaluru Cantt at 22:30 hrs, reaching Bidar the next afternoon at 14:40 hrs. Key halts along the route include Humnabad, Kamalapur, Kalaburagi, Shahabad, Yadgir, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, and Yelahanka, linking urban centres with smaller towns along the corridor.
Comprising 24 coaches, the trains are designed to accommodate a diverse commuter base, featuring one AC II Tier, two AC III Tier, 17 Sleeper Class, two General Second Class, and two Luggage Cum Brake Vans. This configuration balances comfort, affordability, and capacity, catering to both long-distance and regional travellers. Reservations are available at all computerised counters, the IRCTC website, station booking offices, and the UTS app, with passengers urged to travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience.
Railway authorities highlight that these services complement broader regional connectivity goals, reflecting efforts under projects such as the Amrit Bharat Express and Namo Bharat initiatives. Recent railway developments have expanded passenger services across multiple districts, modernised tracks, and introduced electrified corridors to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in line with sustainable transport objectives.
The launch of the Bidar–Bengaluru specials also aligns with national priorities to provide equitable mobility options across Karnataka. Overnight services reduce travel time between northern districts and Bengaluru, allowing passengers to reach the state capital early in the morning, supporting both business and personal travel. Experts note that expanding regional rail links can reduce road congestion, promote safer travel, and provide an environmentally responsible alternative to private vehicle use.Indian Railways continues to monitor passenger demand and infrastructure performance to optimise service schedules. By integrating smaller towns into major railway networks and offering a mix of travel classes, the initiative reinforces a commitment to inclusive, efficient, and sustainable transportation across the state. The introduction of these services represents a strategic step in strengthening Karnataka’s regional connectivity while supporting socio-economic growth and reducing transport-related emissions, advancing both commuter convenience and environmental sustainability goals.
