Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company (MPPMCL) has issued a significant tender to procure 800 megawatts (MW) of wind power, with an additional greenshoe option for up to 800 MW, committing to a 25-year supply agreement. This ambitious initiative underscores the state’s strategic pivot towards cleaner energy sources, a critical step in fostering zero-net carbon, eco-friendly, sustainable, gender-neutral, and equitable cities, and aligns with India’s broader national imperative for a robust renewable energy future.
The tender, open to projects set up anywhere in India, mandates bid submissions by July 23, 2025, with technical and financial bids slated for opening on July 25. This aggressive timeline signals Madhya Pradesh’s urgency in accelerating its green energy transition. The financial parameters are clearly defined, requiring bidders to furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹632,000, a document fee of ₹29,500, and bid processing fees ranging from ₹500,000 for projects up to 100 MW to ₹1.5 million for larger capacities. Successful bidders will also need to provide a performance bank guarantee of ₹3.1 million per MW, ensuring commitment and project viability.
The comprehensive scope of work detailed in the tender extends beyond mere power supply. It places substantial responsibility on the selected bidders to identify suitable land, undertake project installation, and secure full ownership. Crucially, it also mandates the acquisition of necessary grid connectivity and approvals, alongside seamless interconnection with either the interstate transmission system (ISTS) or intrastate transmission system (InSTS) networks. The Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam (MPUVNL) recently invited bids for 1,200 MW of grid-connected solar projects under the ‘Surya Mitra Krishi Feeders’ programme, designed to supply power to MPPMCL. Earlier this year, MPUVNL also issued a request for proposals for a massive 1,500 MW solar project under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) program.
