Bhopal to Establish Rs 150 Crore Vande Bharat Maintenance and Training Hub

Bhopal is set to become a central hub for the maintenance and training of Vande Bharat trains.

The Indian Railways has announced the establishment of a ₹150 crore facility at the Nishatpura Rail Coach Factory, located near Bhopal Junction in Madhya Pradesh. This initiative aims to bolster the operational efficiency and safety standards of the Vande Bharat Express, India’s flagship semi-high-speed train. The facility is designed to accommodate the maintenance of up to 10 Vande Bharat trains simultaneously. It will feature state-of-the-art diagnostic labs equipped with advanced simulation systems, providing hands-on training experiences for railway personnel. The comprehensive training modules will cover various aspects of train operations, including technical operations, safety protocols, signal systems, telecommunications, engineering, accounts, personnel management, stores maintenance, railway systems, and traffic management.

Scheduled to commence operations next year, the Nishatpura facility will also include essential amenities such as a hostel, canteen, administrative building, library, computer centre, auditorium, and medical room. These provisions aim to support the intensive training programs and ensure the well-being of the staff. The establishment of this maintenance and training hub aligns with Indian Railways’ vision to modernize its infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency. By centralizing maintenance and training operations in Bhopal, the initiative seeks to streamline processes, reduce downtime, and improve the overall performance of the Vande Bharat Express.

This development is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, generating employment opportunities and fostering skill development in the region. It also underscores the commitment of Indian Railways to indigenous capacity building and technological advancement in the railway sector. As the project progresses, it is anticipated that the Nishatpura facility will play a pivotal role in the upkeep and operational management of Vande Bharat trains, contributing to the broader goals of enhancing India’s transportation infrastructure and promoting sustainable mobility solutions.
