Bhopal residents are bracing for scheduled power interruptions across several city localities on August 25, 2025, as the Electricity Department undertakes essential maintenance and infrastructure work. The planned outages are intended to enhance electricity supply reliability and ensure the safety of the city’s power network, officials said. Citizens in affected areas are advised to make alternative arrangements during the designated hours to minimise inconvenience.
In North Bhopal, areas including Bhensakedi, Aakash Garden, Madhav Aashram, Visharjan Ghat, Mandi Bairagarh, and O&M Aria will experience power suspension from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In the southern parts, residents of Karuna Dham and nearby areas will face outages between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Eastern localities such as Sudama Nagar, Marghat, and the Shubh Business Zone will also experience disruptions from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Western Bhopal sees a staggered schedule, with areas like Ahmadpur, Bagsewaniya Thana, Surendra Garden, Adarsh Nagar, Shel Parisar, Shiv Shakti Nagar, Fortune Delight, Nirupam Ph-1, and Barfani Dham affected between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. Additional western localities, including HT Connection URC Construction, RML Buildcon, Tribhuvan Colony, Leela Atulyam, Mahindra Ample, Shiv Aangan, Urban River, Mukund Ratnam, and Riverton School, will face power cuts from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In Kolar, HT Connection Nagar Nigam Barrai, Barrai, Kasturi Homes, and Police Station Katara will experience outages from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Electricity department officials emphasised that these scheduled interruptions are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the city’s grid, replace ageing equipment, and reduce the risk of unplanned blackouts. They also highlighted the importance of proactive maintenance in ensuring continuous power supply, particularly in the context of rising demand during the summer months. Residents are urged to plan activities accordingly and to prioritise energy conservation during these hours. Experts noted that such planned outages, while temporarily inconvenient, are critical to long-term urban sustainability. “Modernising the electrical grid and conducting systematic maintenance allows the city to prevent larger disruptions in the future,” said a senior official from Bhopal’s Electricity Department. “It is also aligned with our goals of creating a more resilient, efficient, and equitable urban power infrastructure.”
Authorities have assured that supply will be restored promptly as work is completed and have requested citizens to cooperate. The department is also monitoring critical facilities to ensure essential services remain uninterrupted during the maintenance window. Bhopal residents are therefore advised to stay informed about the affected areas and timings, ensure alternative arrangements for essential appliances, and remain cautious around electrical infrastructure. The initiative is part of a broader citywide strategy to improve reliability, sustainability, and safety across the urban power network.
