BEST Rolls Out Special Bus Services for New Year’s Eve
To facilitate smooth travel and enhance New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has unveiled a special bus service plan for the night of 31st December. This initiative aims to provide hassle-free transportation for the large crowds expected at key tourist spots in Mumbai.
A fleet of 25 additional buses will be deployed across popular routes connecting major destinations, including Gateway of India, Juhu Beach, Gorai Beach, and Marve Beach. The move comes in anticipation of the influx of people visiting these locations to celebrate the arrival of 2025. BEST officials will be stationed at strategic locations like Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Chowk, Juhu Beach, Gorai Beach, Churchgate Station (East), and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, ensuring the smooth operation of the services and providing assistance to passengers. Should the demand exceed expectations, additional buses will be added to the fleet to accommodate more passengers.
In addition to the extra buses, BEST is introducing a unique “Heritage Tour” using newly introduced air-conditioned electric double-decker buses. This tour, operating from midnight on 31st December 2024, to 1st January 2025, will offer Mumbaikars and tourists a chance to explore the historical landmarks of South Mumbai. The route will cover iconic sites such as the Gateway of India, Mantralaya, Nariman Point, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Hutatma Chowk, and the Reserve Bank of India, among others.
The Heritage Tour buses will operate every 45 minutes, with service running from 10 am to 3 am. Tickets will be priced at INR 150 for the upper deck and INR 75 for the lower deck, offering an affordable way to experience Mumbai’s heritage during the festive season. A BEST official explained, “As tourist spots across the city see a significant rise in visitors during the New Year celebrations, our special bus services aim to make travel easier for tourists, especially for those heading to popular seaside locations in Mumbai.” With these thoughtful additions, BEST aims to ensure that both locals and tourists enjoy a seamless and memorable experience as they ring in the new year in Mumbai.
