B’luru’s Yellow Line Metro Set to Open in

Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro is expected to open for public use by the end of this year, connecting Bommasandra to the Central Silk Board and easing congestion in several major areas. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation’s (BMRC) Namma Metro project has completed most of the construction work, including tracks and stations, with some final touches remaining. Stops on the line include R V Road, Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Singasandra, Electronic City, Bommasandra, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Konappana Agrahara, Huskuru Road and Hebbagodi.

The line is on the Electronics City side and expected to relieve traffic congestion in the area. BMRC is also targeting the construction of a 175-km Metro network by June of 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the much-anticipated Whitefield to KR Puram Metro line, which is 13.71 km stretch of the Bengaluru Metro’s Phase-2 extension project built at a cost of around INR 4,250 crore.

The new line is expected to provide a faster and more efficient way to travel between the city’s major areas, reducing travel time and making daily commute more convenient. With BMRC targeting further expansion of the city’s Metro network in coming years, Bengaluru’s commuters can look forward to an increasingly convenient and efficient public transportation system.
