Bengaluru Revises NICE Road Toll Rates With Hike Of Up To ₹5

Bengaluru commuters travelling on the NICE Road will now have to pay more, as toll rates have been increased by up to ₹5 from July 1. The revision applies to both private vehicles and two-wheelers, depending on the route, and comes as part of the annual fee adjustment permitted under the concession agreement between the Karnataka government and NECE. This hike follows similar toll revisions across other key corridors around Bengaluru, signalling a wider shift in urban road pricing.

The revised toll rates span all seven stretches of the 45-kilometre arterial road, which acts as a vital bypass linking major industrial and IT zones on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The expressway connects Tumakuru Road to Hosur Road, easing congestion in the core city and enabling swift movement for freight and daily commuters alike. As part of the latest revision, car users will now pay between ₹3 and ₹5 more depending on the segment travelled. On the longest stretch—Mysuru Road to Magadi Road—the toll for four-wheelers has been increased from ₹65 to ₹70. Similarly, two-wheelers using select portions of the corridor will also see hikes. For instance, riders on the Hosur Road to Bannerghatta Road segment will now pay ₹30 instead of the previous ₹25.However, officials clarified that tolls for two-wheelers remain unchanged on four other stretches of the corridor.

NECE, in its public notice, termed the revision an “annual exercise” in line with provisions that allow adjustments based on inflation, maintenance costs, and traffic pattern shifts. The toll revision has drawn a mixed response from road users, particularly those who rely on NICE Road daily for work commutes and logistics operations. While some have acknowledged the corridor’s efficiency in avoiding the city’s notorious traffic snarls, others have expressed concern over recurring toll hikes without visible upgrades in user amenities or additional safety enhancements. The NICE Road is among Bengaluru’s most frequently used bypass routes, especially for long-distance and intercity travellers aiming to avoid inner-city congestion.

It serves as a backbone for commercial goods transport and links suburban areas to major arterial roads leading to Karnataka’s industrial belts and southern states. The latest toll hike also comes amid recent revisions on other prominent city roadways. Toll charges were increased last month for users of the Electronics City elevated corridor and Kanakapura Road. Moreover, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has informally opened the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway within Karnataka limits and has proposed a tolling structure in the near future.
