Bengaluru Fortis Acquires People Tree Hospitals For Rs 430 Crore Expansion

Bengaluru’s healthcare sector is set for a significant shift as Fortis Healthcare announces the acquisition of People Tree Hospitals, Yeshwanthpur, for Rs 430 crore. The deal includes the hospital’s infrastructure, underlying land, and an adjacent plot, marking a strategic expansion for Fortis in North-West Bengaluru. The NABH-accredited multispecialty facility offers critical services such as cardiac, orthopaedic, neurosciences, and paediatric care, signalling both operational growth and enhanced healthcare access in the city.

People Tree Hospitals, operated by TMI Healthcare Private Limited, recorded consolidated revenues of Rs 102 crore in FY25. Under the acquisition, Fortis will gain complete operational control of the Yeshwanthpur facility. Meanwhile, two other branches—People Tree Hospital Raghavendra and People Tree Hospital Meenakshi—will be separated from TMI Healthcare before the transaction closes, ensuring Fortis focuses on its flagship hospital.Analysts view this acquisition as part of a broader trend of consolidation in Bengaluru’s private healthcare market, where leading hospital chains are expanding their urban footprint to meet growing demand for specialised care. “Integrating a high-quality, NABH-accredited hospital allows Fortis to enhance patient services while streamlining operational efficiency,” said a senior healthcare analyst.

The promoters of People Tree Hospitals, Dr Upendra Kandluri and Dr Jothi Neerja, highlighted that the acquisition will support the hospital’s next growth phase. “Fortis’s experience and network reach will strengthen the hospital’s service offerings and capacity to serve Bengaluru’s diverse patient population,” they said.Financial advisory for the transaction was provided exclusively by Alvarez & Marsal, reflecting the deal’s strategic significance in India’s private healthcare sector. With Bengaluru emerging as a hub for specialised medical services, investments like this can boost local healthcare infrastructure and stimulate economic activity in the region. From an urban planning perspective, consolidating established hospitals under leading networks can improve land use, resource management, and service quality. Modern infrastructure upgrades and efficient hospital operations also align with sustainable city goals, ensuring inclusive access to healthcare while promoting responsible urban development.

As private hospital chains continue to expand across Bengaluru, residents are expected to benefit from higher standards of care, broader service portfolios, and integrated hospital networks. Policymakers and city planners, meanwhile, are encouraged to monitor such growth to ensure it aligns with equitable, sustainable, and inclusive urban healthcare strategies.
