Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE) has invited tenders for six elevated corridors, flyovers and grade separators across Bengaluru at an estimated civil cost of ₹1,640.33 crore, excluding GST, in a push to ease traffic on some of the city’s busiest routes.
The projects cover central Bengaluru, Hosur Road, Yelahanka, Mahalakshmi Layout, Tumakuru Road and Kanakapura Road. According to a report by Vijay Karnataka, all six works are scheduled to be completed within 30 months of the contractor receiving the tender, including the monsoon period. The selected contractors will also be responsible for maintaining the roads and structures for 10 years after completion.
Bids have been invited through the Karnataka Public Procurement Portal. The largest package, estimated at ₹564.07 crore, involves an elevated corridor from Shole Circle on Hosur Road to St John’s Hospital Road through Anepalya Junction and Adugodi Junction. The corridor is intended to serve traffic moving through Adugodi, Anepalya, Koramangala and Dairy Circle.
A second major package, estimated at ₹539.94 crore, will create an elevated corridor from Minerva Circle to Hudson Circle. It also includes a loop flyover from the existing Balagangadharanatha Swamiji Flyover to Town Hall and another elevated corridor from Anand Rao Circle, also known as Sangolli Rayanna Circle, to KR Circle on Nrupatunga Road.
The central Bengaluru package is expected to affect routes connecting KR Market, Town Hall, Corporation Circle, KR Circle and Majestic. The tender documents describe the structures as an effort to enable signal-free movement along these busy links, although the source report does not provide traffic projections or details of junction-level changes after construction.
In north Bengaluru, a ₹102.66-crore elevated corridor is proposed from the Doddaballapur Road police station junction through Old Yelahanka Town to Kogilu Cross on NH-7, near the Navayuga Flyover. The route is expected to be relevant to traffic heading towards Kempegowda International Airport Road and Doddaballapur.
The remaining three packages address road sections in western and southern Bengaluru. A ₹315.28-crore project will build grade separators on Pipeline Road from the West of Chord Road in Mahalakshmi Layout to the Outer Ring Road. A split flyover at the MEI Junction opposite RNS Shantiniketan on Tumakuru Road has an estimated cost of ₹41.62 crore, while an elevated corridor at Konanakunte Cross on Kanakapura Road is estimated at ₹76.76 crore.
Each project has the same stated construction period of 30 months and a 10-year maintenance obligation. The tender announcement therefore combines construction and long-term upkeep within the proposed contracting framework. The source report does not specify the bid submission deadline, the number of lanes, land requirements, traffic diversion plans or the financing structure beyond the estimated civil costs.
The proposed works span several parts of Bengaluru rather than forming a single continuous corridor. Their implementation will consequently involve separate junctions, arterial roads and traffic movements across the city. The next formal milestone will be the tendering process through the Karnataka Public Procurement Portal, followed by contractor selection and the start of work on the individual packages.
