Bengaluru is expected to face a day of persistent rain and thunderstorm activity on July 18, with significant weather conditions likely to impact daily routines and urban mobility. As per the latest meteorological data, the city is forecast to receive 10.12 mm of rainfall, with a high probability of 92 percent precipitation. Temperatures will range from a cool 20.6°C in the early hours to a modest high of 25.8°C by mid-afternoon, accompanied by heavy humidity levels peaking at 82 percent.
The day will begin with scattered light drizzles that are forecast to intensify into moderate showers by afternoon. Thunderstorms are anticipated intermittently throughout the day, while the UV index remains low at 1.8, indicating minimal solar radiation exposure. These weather conditions, combined with sustained wind speeds of 23.8 km/h, will likely lead to a noticeable dip in comfort levels across the city. Experts from the regional weather office caution that the ongoing atmospheric instability may lead to temporary power outages and reduced road visibility. With visibility already limited to under 10 km, traffic congestion and longer commute times are expected during peak hours. Residents are advised to plan ahead and prioritise indoor activities where possible, particularly in flood-prone zones.
The week ahead suggests a continuation of similar wet weather patterns. July 19 and 20 are likely to bring moderate to light showers, with daytime temperatures hovering between 19.8°C and 23°C. Humidity is expected to remain elevated throughout the week, increasing discomfort for commuters and outdoor workers. By July 21 and 22, rainfall intensity may reduce slightly but will persist in the form of patchy showers. Temperatures could rise marginally to around 24.6°C, while wind speeds are expected to peak at 29.2 km/h on July 22. The extended forecast for July 23 and 24 indicates consistent intermittent rain, with the mercury staying stable near the 25°C mark.

In response to the evolving forecast, weather officials urge citizens to adopt precautionary measures such as waterproof clothing and footwear, particularly for those commuting by two-wheelers. Given the high possibility of slick roads and waterlogging, urban planners and civic authorities are keeping emergency services on alert. The week’s weather underscores the pressing need for resilient infrastructure and climate-adaptive urban planning. While the rains bring temporary discomfort, they also serve as critical reminders of the ongoing need to develop greener and more sustainable cities.
