BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has embarked on a transformative initiative along Raj Bhavan Road, garnering praise from pedestrians and residents for its proactive measures in enhancing the thoroughfare’s aesthetic appeal.
The BBMP Horticulture Department has garnered commendation for its swift action in clearing weeds, notably Parthenium, from the footpath between Cubbon Park Metro Station and General Post Office. This initiative has not only beautified the area but also addressed concerns raised by frequent footpath users. A pedestrian, acknowledging the improvement, highlighted the department’s efforts and urged for further enhancement through the introduction of decorative and flowering plants. Such additions, he noted, would not only beautify the stretch but also contribute positively to the environment. In response to community feedback, representatives from the Bengaluru Residents Welfare Association expressed appreciation for the BBMP’s initiative and called for sustained efforts across the Central Business District (CBD). They emphasised the importance of engaging contractors to plant fresh perennials and seasonal flowering plants, particularly ahead of the monsoon season, to maintain the area’s allure.
The BBMP Horticulture (East) official affirmed their commitment to ongoing improvements, indicating plans to plant new saplings along Raj Bhavan Road in the coming days. This proactive approach underscores BBMP’s dedication to ensuring public spaces in Bengaluru remain both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
