A strategic move to enhance Bengaluru’s skyline, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is now prioritising a new location for its ambitious skydeck project. The civic body has recently shown interest in a 25-acre land parcel in Hemmigepura along the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) Road, following a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.
The BBMP had explored several sites, including land at the New Government Electric Factory (NGEF) and various locations within the Central Business District (CBD). The skydeck project was also considered for the Bangalore University campus in Jnanabharathi and the developing area of Kommaghatta. However, these sites were ultimately deemed unsuitable—Jnanabharathi for its potential disruption to the academic environment and Kommaghatta for its underdeveloped status and limited tourist appeal.
The decision to focus on Hemmigepura marks a significant shift in the project’s direction. The BBMP is set to engage in formal discussions with NICE officials to secure the proposed land. The new location is expected to offer panoramic views of both green landscapes and urban developments, which could boost local tourism and enhance the area’s overall appeal. In addition to the skydeck, the BBMP is contemplating the establishment of an integrated waste processing park along the NICE Road. This dual initiative aligns with the city’s broader development goals and aims to provide a comprehensive solution to urban challenges while promoting sustainable growth.
A skydeck at Hemmigepura is anticipated to serve as a focal point for both residents and visitors, offering a unique vantage point to view Bengaluru’s dynamic landscape. The project’s progress will be closely monitored as the BBMP prepares to move forward with its plans, ensuring that the development is both beneficial and impactful for the city.
