Bandra Traffic Adjustments for Metro 2-B Construction

Mumbai’s S.V. Road in Bandra is set to experience significant traffic disruptions due to ongoing construction work for the Mumbai Metro 2-B project. The Mumbai Police have issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan to mitigate the impact on daily commuters and ensure smooth progress of the infrastructure project.

In a notification issued by Samadhan Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ & Central), Traffic Police, Mumbai, parking will be strictly prohibited on both sides of Maharashtra Road from Bandra BEST Bus Depot to Badi Masjid on S.V. Road. This restriction will be in effect from 00.01 hours on August 8, 2024, until 24.00 hours on February 7, 2025. The prohibition aims to prevent obstructions and ensure the safety of the public as construction work advances.

The new traffic arrangement mandates that vehicles travelling from Bandra Station (west) towards S.V. Road must use Maharashtra Road. Notably, Maharashtra Road will operate as a one-way route from Bandra Station (west) to S.V. Road, with no entry allowed from S.V. Road towards Bandra Station (west). This change is designed to streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion in the area.

Earlier in July, a similar traffic diversion was implemented for Metro Line 6 construction work at Seepz Metro Station. This diversion, affecting the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) line, is in place from July 30 to August 20, 2024, from 00.00 am to 06.00 am daily. The measures are part of the ongoing development of the 14.10-kilometre Metro Line 6, which runs parallel to the Jogeshwari Vikhroli junction. The implementation of these traffic changes reflects the city’s effort to balance major infrastructure development with everyday transportation needs.
