B R Goyal Wins Rs 480 Million NHAI Toll Collection Contract

B R Goyal Infrastructure has secured a significant contract valued at Rs 470.83 million from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to manage toll collection at the Khambara Fee Plaza on the Nagpur Seoni-Betul highway section in Maharashtra. The agreement spans a one-year period and will also cover the maintenance of toilet facilities and replenishment of consumables at the plaza, reflecting a holistic approach to highway service management.

Officials from B R Goyal Infrastructure stated that the award was obtained through a competitive e-tender process and does not constitute a related party transaction, as neither promoters nor affiliated entities hold any stake in NHAI. This distinction underscores the transparency and procedural integrity of the contract award. Experts in infrastructure development noted that the project aligns with broader efforts to improve highway operations and traveller amenities, while ensuring revenue collection efficiency on critical national corridors. The Khambara Fee Plaza, situated on the strategic Nagpur-Seoni-Betul route, forms an essential component of Maharashtra’s transport network, facilitating freight and passenger mobility in central India.

B R Goyal Infrastructure, a prominent player in roads, highways, bridges, and building projects, has demonstrated resilience and growth despite market challenges. For FY25, the company reported a 15.1% increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 250.18 million, even as revenues fell 13.4% to Rs 5.09 billion. Analysts highlight that the company’s diversified infrastructure portfolio and focus on operational efficiency have helped it sustain profitability amidst revenue fluctuations. Industry observers further emphasised that toll collection contracts like these are integral to the sustainable financing of national highways, allowing for regular maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and improved safety standards. In addition, by including provisions for hygiene and consumable management at toll plazas, companies are increasingly incorporating eco-friendly and user-centric measures, which contribute to greener, more equitable urban and peri-urban transport networks.

Experts also suggested that such projects play a role in reducing congestion-related emissions by streamlining toll operations and facilitating smoother traffic flow, indirectly supporting low-carbon mobility objectives. The NHAI’s commitment to periodic tendering and robust monitoring ensures that private contractors adhere to quality standards, operational efficiency, and sustainability norms. With the Nagpur-Seoni-Betul corridor connecting key industrial and agricultural regions, timely and efficient toll operations are crucial for logistics continuity, commuter convenience, and regional economic growth. Officials confirmed that B R Goyal Infrastructure’s execution strategy will prioritise both operational excellence and compliance with environmental and social responsibility norms.
