Atal Setu to Close for MMRDA Marathon on February 16

In light of the upcoming MMRDA Marathon scheduled for Sunday, February 16, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police has announced significant traffic restrictions on Atal Setu, also known as the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link. The event will take place from 4 am to 12 pm along the Mumbai (Severy) to Chirle (Navi Mumbai) route, requiring temporary traffic management measures.

To ensure smooth conduct of the marathon and avoid congestion, Atal Setu will remain closed to vehicular traffic from 11 pm on February 15 until 1 pm on February 16. This decision has been implemented under the directions of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Navi Mumbai, Vitthal Kubde, following Sections 115 and 116 (1) (a) (b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, as per the Maharashtra Government notification dated September 27, 1996. During the closure, all vehicles, except those directly involved in the marathon, will be prohibited from entering Atal Setu. This will affect commuters traveling between Mumbai, Pune, Uran, and JNPT, who are advised to use alternative routes.

For those coming from Uran, the advised diversions are via Gavan Phata, Uran Phata, and Vashi. Pune-Mumbai traffic is encouraged to use the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway, which will be accessible via Belapur and Vashi. Additionally, vehicles from Konkan and Panvel will be diverted through Uran Phata and Vashi. Exemptions have been made for police vehicles, fire brigades, ambulances, and other emergency services, as well as vehicles that are part of the marathon logistics. In a public notice, the traffic police has urged passengers to plan their journeys in advance to avoid any disruption and ensure a hassle-free commute.
