Arakkonam train services disrupted as power line snaps halting seven trains including long distance express routes
Arakkonam faced a disruption in train services on Tuesday after a high voltage overhead power line snapped near the Arakkonam railway station in Ranipet. The incident brought traffic to a halt for nearly an hour affecting multiple long distance and suburban trains.
Railway officials stated that the issue began around 12.35 pm when a suburban train from Chennai Central to Arakkonam experienced a snag in its pantograph at the station. This caused the overhead power cable to disconnect.
As a result seven trains including MGR Chennai Central InterCity SF Express from Coimbatore Chennai Express from Mysuru Humsafar Express from Ahmedabad and a goods train were brought to a standstill at various locations on the route.
Technical teams arrived swiftly and restored the connection. Normal train operations resumed by 1.30 pm according to railway officials.
