Amritsar Airport Restores Free Wi-Fi Facility Following Strong Public Demand
Kolhapur and Aurangabad airports have achieved a significant milestone, securing positions among the top ten airports nationwide for passenger satisfaction, according to a recent survey by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). This remarkable ascent underscores the commitment to enhancing air travel experiences and improving regional connectivity. Such advancements are crucial for fostering equitable access to transportation networks, contributing to the economic dynamism and sustainable development of these burgeoning urban centres.
The AAI’s comprehensive customer satisfaction survey, conducted biannually, meticulously evaluates the quality of passenger experiences across 60 airports in India. The assessment is based on direct feedback from travellers, scrutinising performance across 33 key parameters, ranging from sanitation and parking facilities to check-in processes and ground transport. Each airport is rated out of a maximum of five points, providing a robust benchmark for operational excellence. In this latest evaluation, Udaipur, Khajuraho, and Bhopal airports attained a perfect score of 5.0, setting a high standard for the industry.
Aurangabad airport achieved an impressive rating of 4.93, demonstrating a marginal yet consistent improvement of 0.06 points compared to the previous survey. Kolhapur airport, however, showcased a remarkable leap, securing a rating of 4.91, a significant improvement of 0.38 points. This substantial progress is particularly noteworthy for Kolhapur, which was ranked 39th nationally in 2022, highlighting a concerted effort towards operational enhancement and customer-centric service delivery. Passengers at both facilities expressed high satisfaction with essential services, including cleanliness, parking availability, efficient check-in procedures, and seamless transport options.
The director of Kolhapur airport highlighted the ongoing efforts to further elevate the passenger experience. Plans are underway to expand snack outlets, cafes, and retail spaces, including dedicated sections for locally sourced Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products, promoting regional economies. Furthermore, new amenities are being introduced for younger travellers, such as dedicated drawing and colouring zones, and workstations equipped with tablets for internet browsing and selective gaming. These initiatives aim to provide a more comfortable and engaging environment for all passengers, reinforcing the airport’s commitment to hassle-free services.
The consistent improvement demonstrated by Aurangabad and Kolhapur airports is pivotal for their respective regions. Enhanced passenger satisfaction translates into increased air traffic, fostering greater business connectivity, tourism, and overall economic growth. By prioritising customer experience and investing in modern facilities, these airports are not only becoming more competitive but also contributing to the broader vision of creating smart, sustainable, and inclusive cities. Their success serves as a testament to the potential for regional airports to drive development and provide equitable access to essential services for diverse populations.
