Amazon India is making a move to electrify its e-commerce logistics by partnering with Eicher Motors and Buses. This marks Amazon’s commitment to decarbonise its transportation and enhance sustainability of its delivery fleet. Over the next five years, the e-commerce giant intends to deploy up to 1,000 cutting-edge, zero-emission electric trucks.
As an initial step, Amazon plans to deploy 50 electric trucks by the end of 2023 in key locations, including Indore, Delhi, Manesar and Gurugram. The trucks are equipped with advanced digital features and a customisable cargo stacking system, ensuring seamless deliveries to customers’ homes. With deck lengths ranging from 8 to 24 feet, these trucks cater to a variety of delivery requirements.
The electrification of Amazon’s delivery fleet represents a significant step forward in minimising the environmental impact of logistics and last-mile delivery operations. By adopting these electric trucks, Amazon aims to reduce carbon emissions.
