Aluva Traffic Gridlock Bridge Repair Sparks Congestion Woes

Ongoing maintenance works on the Mangalapuzha Bridge, a vital artery on the national highway at Aluva, have precipitated severe traffic congestion along the highway, prompting authorities to implement traffic regulations to alleviate the bottleneck.

With repair activities in full swing, commuters traversing the bridge area between Aluva and Angamaly are experiencing prolonged delays, exacerbated during peak hours. Traffic regulation measures, instated on Friday, are expected to remain in force for approximately 20 days, limiting traffic flow to just one lane. Despite the deployment of police personnel to manage the situation, the influx of vehicles has led to significant congestion, hindering the smooth flow of traffic. To mitigate the impact, authorities have directed heavy vehicles bound for Aluva and Ernakulam to divert via MC Road from Angamaly Signal Junction, rerouting through Kalady to reach Aluva.

Additionally, access to the U-turn at Seminaripadi area has been completely restricted, necessitating vehicles to take an alternate route via the Paravoorkavala signal area. The congestion arising from the bridge repair works underscores the critical need for meticulous traffic management strategies and efficient diversion routes to minimise disruption to commuters and maintain essential traffic flow along the affected corridor.

As commuters grapple with extended travel times and heightened congestion, authorities remain vigilant, working diligently to streamline traffic management efforts and expedite the completion of maintenance works on the Mangalapuzha Bridge. The successful navigation of this temporary traffic challenge will be paramount in ensuring the continued functionality and safety of this crucial transportation link in the Aluva region.
