Air Kerala, a new low-cost airline, has announced plans to commence operations in 2025, following the recent receipt of a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The NOC, granted over the weekend, marks a significant milestone for the airline, which is promoted by Dubai-based entrepreneurs Afi Ahmed and Ayub Kallada. The announcement was made during a press conference in Dubai.
Air Kerala, registered under the name Zettfly Aviation, is set to become the first regional airline of Kerala, India’s southernmost state. The airline has received permission to operate scheduled commuter air transport services for the next three years. The initial phase of operations will focus on connecting Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities using a fleet of three ATR 72-600 aircraft. The ATR 72-600 is known for its efficiency and suitability for short-haul regional flights, making it an ideal choice for Air Kerala’s planned routes. This strategic move aims to enhance connectivity within the region, providing affordable and convenient travel options for passengers in smaller cities.
