Air India Express has expanded its winter schedule with a significant increase in flight operations from three major cities in India’s Northeast—Guwahati, Imphal, and Agartala. The airline has ramped up its weekly flight operations from Guwahati to 106, up from 63 last winter, connecting passengers to eight key domestic cities: Agartala, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, and Kolkata.
This increase in frequency highlights Air India Express’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between the Northeast and the rest of India. The airline is also boosting operations from Imphal, raising weekly flights to 34, which is 20 more than last year’s winter schedule. Since the addition of Agartala as a station in September 2024, the airline has increased its flights to 21 weekly, offering direct connections to Guwahati and Kolkata. In addition to direct flights, Air India Express provides one-stop connectivity from Guwahati to 18 domestic and six international destinations, enhancing travel options for the region’s residents and visitors. With these strategic expansions, the airline strengthens Guwahati’s position as a key hub for the Northeast, facilitating easier travel within India and beyond. Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India Express, stated, “The expansion not only facilitates easier travel for those wishing to explore North East, but also strengthens Guwahati’s role as a vital link with the rest of the country.” With the airline’s fleet growing rapidly beyond 90 aircraft, Air India Express is well-positioned to meet the growing demand from emerging cities across India. This expansion supports the airline’s broader strategy to enhance regional connectivity and provide affordable travel options to passengers in the Northeast, contributing to the economic growth and tourism potential of the region.
