Ahmedabad Swelters as Mercury Soars to 43.2°C

Ahmedabad: As the monsoon advances over Kerala, residents of Ahmedabad must brace themselves for another spell of scorching temperatures in the coming days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad climbed marginally to 43.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday, surpassing the normal mark by 1.3 degrees. In addition, the city experienced a minimum temperature of 30.1°C, which was 1.9 degrees above the usual level. Relative humidity levels ranged from 59% in the morning to 27% during the day. The IMD’s forecast for Gujarat suggests that there will be minimal changes in maximum temperatures over the next five days. Dry weather is expected to persist across all districts of the Gujarat region, including Saurashtra-Kutch and Diu, Daman, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli.

Furthermore, the state may encounter light dust storms, characterized by maximum surface wind speeds below 40 kmph, particularly in districts such as Banaskantha, Patan, Surendranagar, and Kutch. As the city continues to grapple with soaring temperatures, residents are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe and hydrated. With no immediate relief in sight, authorities advise vigilance and adherence to heatwave advisories to mitigate the impact of the intense heat on public health and well-being.
