Ahmedabad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), operated by the Adani Group, has achieved the top ranking in passenger satisfaction and experience in the Airports Council International (ACI) survey for the second quarter of 2025. This significant recognition underscores the airport’s commitment to service excellence and its pivotal role in fostering efficient, passenger-centric urban connectivity. Such performance is vital for Ahmedabad’s growth as a smart, sustainable, and globally competitive city, aligning with the broader vision for eco-friendly and equitable urban development.
SVPIA, which falls within the 5-15 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category, achieved a perfect score of 5 out of 5 in both passenger satisfaction and passenger experience for the first and second quarters of 2025. This consistent top-tier performance is a direct reflection of feedback from travellers, meticulously covering critical aspects such as ease of travel, minimal waiting times, staff courtesy, and overall comfort within the airport environment. The “emotional score” from the survey, indicating that travellers departed with a positive feeling, further solidifies the airport’s success in delivering a seamless and enjoyable journey.
The airport’s strong showing is a testament to Adani Airports’ strategic vision to position Indian airports as globally competitive and passenger-centric hubs. This vision has translated into substantial investments in infrastructure upgrades, the integration of advanced digital services, and comprehensive staff training programmes designed to elevate service quality across all touchpoints. SVPIA, with over 80 years of history and spanning 987 acres, is Gujarat’s busiest airport, handling a remarkable 13.3 million passengers in 2024-25 and managing nearly 280 flights daily, alongside over 100,000 metric tons of cargo annually.
Beyond operational excellence, SVPIA has garnered several prestigious honours that highlight its commitment to sustainability and efficiency. It became the first airport in India to receive the 5S Certification from JUSE and QCFI, achieved Level 4 accreditation from ACI, and earned the coveted Zero Waste to Landfill recognition from the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development. These accolades underscore the airport’s dedication to eco-friendly practices, contributing directly to Ahmedabad’s environmental goals and its journey towards becoming a zero-net-carbon city.
The consistent high performance of SVPIA is not merely a matter of operational pride; it has tangible implications for Ahmedabad’s urban and economic landscape. An efficient and passenger-friendly airport enhances the city’s appeal for business and tourism, facilitating trade and investment. It supports the growth of local industries, creates employment opportunities, and improves overall urban livability by ensuring smooth and reliable air travel. This commitment to world-class infrastructure and sustainable practices is crucial for building a resilient, prosperous, and equitable urban future for Ahmedabad.
