In the recently unveiled 12th edition of integrated discom ratings for the fiscal year 2022-23 by Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy R.K. Singh, Adani Electricity Mumbai has claimed the leading position, marking a significant achievement in India’s power distribution landscape.
The rankings highlight Adani Electricity Mumbai’s outstanding performance, showcasing its commitment to efficiency and reliability in power distribution. Following closely behind, Torrent Power’s operations in Surat and Ahmedabad secured the second and third spots, contributing to the competitive landscape of top-performing discoms.
The state of Gujarat demonstrated a strong presence in the top rankings, with Gujarat’s state-owned utilities Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) and Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL) securing the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Out of the 55 utilities assessed, an impressive 14 achieved the highest performance rating of A+. These top-performing discoms span across Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh, showcasing a diverse geographical representation of excellence in power distribution. The comprehensive ranking system designated A ratings to four utilities, A+ to 14, B to seven, B- to 13, C to 11, and C- to six, emphasising a detailed evaluation of each utility’s performance. Notably, no utility received the lowest rating of D. It’s noteworthy that two private utilities, TPNODL (Odisha) and DNHDDPDCL (Dadar, Nagar & Haveli, Daman & Diu), achieved an A+ rating, although they were excluded from the primary ranking due to their relatively shorter operational history of less than three years. Adani Electricity Mumbai’s ascendancy to the top spot underscores the dynamic and competitive landscape of India’s power distribution sector, setting benchmarks for operational excellence and customer service.
