Adani Cement Achieves Milestone Completing Raft Foundation For Umiya Dham Temple

Adani Cement, in partnership with its associate PSP Infra, has successfully completed the raft foundation casting for the forthcoming Jagat Janani Maa Umiya Temple near Ahmedabad, marking a significant milestone in one of India’s largest sustainable temple projects. The execution involved continuous casting to prevent cold joints, with rigorous monitoring of temperature and concrete mix consistency throughout the process.

The project leverages Adani Cement’s proprietary ECOMaxX concrete mix, which incorporates 66 percent Supplementary Cementitious Material, enabling a 60 percent reduction in carbon footprint compared with conventional concrete. A proprietary Coolcrete formulation was used to maintain placement temperatures below 28 degrees Celsius, while embedded thermocouples provide real-time monitoring of durability and thermal conditions. Measuring 450 feet by 400 feet with an 8-foot depth, the raft foundation is designed to support 1,551 Dharma Stambhs for the 504-foot tall temple, which will form the centrepiece of a 60-acre social and cultural campus in Jaspur. Officials noted that the foundation’s design integrates modern engineering with sustainable construction practices, reflecting a commitment to low-carbon urban development.

Experts from Adani Cement highlighted that Umiya Dham is expected to become an iconic spiritual landmark, with an overall investment of approximately ₹2,000 crore. The use of eco-friendly concrete ensures that the project aligns with India’s goals of sustainable infrastructure development, promoting energy efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions in large-scale construction. The temple foundation casting event witnessed over 1,000 attendees on site and more than 10,000 online participants, illustrating the widespread interest in the project’s combination of cultural significance and engineering innovation. Officials emphasized that this milestone demonstrates Adani Cement’s capacity to execute mega-projects while adhering to sustainable construction standards, positioning the company as a strategic partner for environmentally conscious infrastructure initiatives.

With the raft foundation completed, the project now moves into the next phase of vertical construction. Urban development experts suggest that such high-profile, low-carbon projects set benchmarks for eco-friendly, large-scale religious and cultural infrastructure in India, balancing heritage preservation with sustainable urban planning. The Umiya Dham Temple project highlights a convergence of cultural heritage, advanced engineering, and climate-conscious construction practices, establishing a model for future developments that aim to harmonise tradition, social inclusion, and environmental responsibility.
