The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has implemented a modern vehicle parking management system at Vadodara airport, aimed at improving traffic flow and passenger convenience. The initiative, which came into effect on Sunday, forms part of AAI’s revised vehicle parking policy focused on efficiency, transparency, and safety across airports nationwide.
The new system, operated by M/s S S Multiservices, introduces structured parking tariffs and strict entry regulations. Notably, three-wheelers have been prohibited from entering the airport premises to streamline traffic movement and maintain security around the terminal zone.According to Vadodara Airport Director M.S.I. Dawood, the upgraded parking policy is designed to create “better traffic management, enhanced passenger convenience, and improved operational efficiency.” The new mechanism is expected to reduce congestion, ensure timely pick-ups and drops, and promote more organised vehicular circulation at one of Gujarat’s key aviation hubs.
Under the revised policy, parking tariffs now vary by vehicle type and duration. For the first 30 minutes, two-wheelers will pay ₹10, private cars and SUVs ₹30, commercial cars ₹43, minibuses and tempos ₹60, and buses or coaches ₹170. Between 30 and 120 minutes, the rates increase slightly, while charges beyond two hours rise incrementally per hour.
In a passenger-friendly move, private vehicles will be exempted from parking fees for pick-up or drop-off if they exit the premises within eight minutes an approach aimed at decongesting terminal entry and exit points during peak flight hours. Technology and Mobility Focus Airport officials said that the parking system is integrated with a digital ticketing platform to ensure smoother payment processing and prevent revenue leakages. The system is also expected to contribute to reducing idling times and vehicular emissions a growing environmental concern at urban airports.
