The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has embarked on a comprehensive road construction and repair initiative in Narela.
The decision, prompted by the need to accommodate the upcoming flats and existing inventory in the area, aims to bolster infrastructure and facilitate smoother movement across the district. Traditionally, the focus had been on constructing single carriageways facing the housing units, primarily targeting upcoming projects. This strategy was conducive to laying underground service lines with ease, ensuring efficient utility installation. However, with the completion of numerous housing projects and the laying of underground services, the authority has pivoted towards carpeting the entire carriageway to optimise road infrastructure. Work has already commenced in certain sectors of Narela, with the tendering process underway for others. The DDA envisions covering all roads in Narela, encompassing both upcoming sectors and existing ones, by the year’s end. Specifically targeting sectors A1-A4 and A1-A10, the authority aims to undertake extensive road development to cater to the burgeoning demands of the locality.
Moreover, plans are underway to repair or install electricity poles along these revamped roads to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of vehicles. Emphasising the importance of post-construction maintenance, the DDA stipulates that the agency entrusted with the task will be responsible for upkeep and repairs for an additional year. Additionally, stringent measures will be implemented to prevent unauthorised digging or damage to the roads without prior approval. Currently, approximately 50 kilometres of road stretch has been earmarked for repairs by the authority, encompassing full carriageway development. Furthermore, concerted efforts are underway to coordinate with other agencies for the installation of water and sewer lines, as well as sanitation work, to comprehensively address the infrastructure needs of Narela. As the DDA spearheads this ambitious road revitalisation project, residents can anticipate significant improvements in connectivity and infrastructure, ushering in a new era of development and convenience in the Narela district.
