Bengaluru city corporations have intensified their inspection regime as part of a citywide push to improve urban infrastructure, road safety, and public service delivery. Following directives from state authorities, commissioners conducted extensive rounds across multiple wards, reviewing roads, footpaths, public health centres, and sanitation facilities, while instructing officials to expedite repairs and remove encroachments that impede civic operations.
In the southern part of the city, commissioners focused on historic and high-footfall areas such as Banashankari Temple and the adjoining Sarakki Market, identifying blackspots and clearing encroachments that obstruct pedestrian movement. City authorities emphasised adherence to timelines for pothole repairs and road maintenance, highlighting that prolonged delays in basic infrastructure upkeep can tarnish the city’s national reputation.Eastern wards of Bengaluru witnessed coordinated inspections involving city engineering divisions alongside representatives from electricity, water, gas, and transport agencies.
Officials cited the lack of standardised infrastructure maintenance as a critical issue, urging strict completion of pending projects within 15 days to mitigate public inconvenience. The inspections underlined the necessity of inter-agency collaboration, with the goal of creating safer and more sustainable urban spaces.Western and northern city divisions also witnessed rigorous monitoring, with commissioners personally evaluating roadwork progress across major stretches, including key arterial routes from Nagawara to Reva Circle and Bagalur Main Road. Inspectors stressed accountability, particularly with contractors and utility agencies, ensuring that excavated roads are restored promptly and penalties are applied for non-compliance.
In a move to enhance citizen engagement, the northern division announced a weekly phone-in programme starting September 26. Residents can register grievances directly with officials, enabling real-time resolution and monitoring of civic service performance.
