Vizag‑based AP Secures ₹45,000 Crore Singapore MoUs During CM Visit

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has concluded a highly successful four-day official visit to Singapore, securing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth an estimated ₹45,000 crore. The tour, aimed at attracting significant investments and restoring the state’s global image, positions Andhra Pradesh as a burgeoning hub for technology, sustainable infrastructure, and green energy. This substantial influx of capital is set to catalyse job creation and propel the state towards a more equitable and eco-friendly urban future.

The cornerstone of the investment drive is a landmark agreement with global tech giant Google, committing to establish its largest data centre in Asia within Visakhapatnam. This development is pivotal for transforming Vizag into a future growth centre, attracting further investments in data centres, Artificial Intelligence (AI), aerospace, and drone technology. Such high-tech infrastructure is crucial for building smart, sustainable cities, reducing the digital divide, and fostering a technologically advanced workforce.

Chief Minister Naidu, accompanied by a high-level delegation, engaged in 26 meetings, including roundtable discussions and visits to key infrastructure projects. These engagements focused on re-establishing cordial ties with Singapore and exploring extensive opportunities for collaboration in urban development, information technology, and trade. Noteworthy expressions of interest came from CapitaLand Investors, keen to expand into Amaravati and Tirupati, while Mandai Wildlife Group and Barclay showed intent to invest in eco-tourism projects, including wildlife experience zones and biodiversity complexes. These investments align with the state’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism.

Financial institutions also demonstrated strong interest, with Japan-based SMBC expressing willingness to finance infrastructure lending and clean energy projects in Andhra Pradesh. Temasek Holdings, a prominent global investor, indicated openness to expanding infrastructure development across diverse sectors such as food processing, healthcare, technology, and sustainable infrastructure. This diversified investment portfolio underscores confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s economic potential and its strategic direction towards green growth.

A significant agreement was also signed with YouTube and Tezaract SA Inc. to establish a Creator Academy in the state, with Google providing curriculum, technology, and expertise. This initiative is designed to empower local talent, particularly youth and women, by equipping them with digital skills and fostering entrepreneurship in the creative economy, thereby contributing to a more gender-neutral and inclusive workforce. Naidu also unveiled the P4 initiative—Public-Private-People Partnerships, inviting investors in various sectors, including IT parks, work stations, wildlife parks, ecotourism, and green energy financing.

The Chief Minister’s Vision-2047, which was enthusiastically received by Singaporean businessmen and officials, outlines a long-term roadmap for Andhra Pradesh’s development. This vision, coupled with the commitment to host a Global Investors’ Summit in Vizag this November, positions the state as a prime destination for sustainable investments. The establishment of a Global Export-Import Cell for the three million non-resident Telugu population further aims to leverage diaspora connections for economic growth. The emphasis on clean energy, eco-tourism, and advanced technology underpins a comprehensive strategy for building zero-net-carbon, eco-friendly, and equitable cities that are resilient and prosperous.
