Yogi Adityanath reviews road projects across Gorakhpur‑Basti divisions urges proposals

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath convened a pivotal review meeting on Thursday, engaging with Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, and senior officials to meticulously detail upcoming road infrastructure projects across the Gorakhpur and Basti divisions. This proactive engagement, focusing on assembly constituency-wise action plans and road proposals, underscores the state government’s commitment to bolstering regional connectivity and driving holistic development. The initiative aims to enhance the ease of living, foster economic prosperity, and lay the groundwork for a sustainable, gender-neutral, and equitable urban-rural landscape in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

During the comprehensive session at the Annexe Bhawan Auditorium, Chief Minister Adityanath urged public representatives to submit proposals directly aligned with the specific road development needs and aspirations of their constituencies. He assured swift and prioritised action on these submissions, signalling a significant shift towards a more responsive and decentralised planning approach. A digital presentation by the Public Works Department (PWD) outlined existing project statuses, facilitating detailed discussions between the Chief Minister and local legislators. This direct interaction aims to streamline the approval and implementation process, ensuring that infrastructure development genuinely serves the public interest and contributes to a zero net carbon urban footprint by reducing travel times and promoting efficient logistics.

Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the considerable progress made in strengthening interstate and four-lane connectivity, noting the tangible benefits already being realised across the Gorakhpur-Basti region. He further stressed the imperative for the PWD to treat all road-related proposals from public representatives with utmost seriousness. Projects benefiting a larger population will receive precedence, with urban roads specifically slated for systematic development under the CM Grid Scheme. This scheme, designed for integrated urban road infrastructure development, includes features like utility ducts, green areas, solar-powered street lighting, and pedestrian facilities, aligning with the vision of eco-friendly and inclusive urban spaces. Such strategic enhancements are crucial for bolstering economic activity, facilitating trade, and improving access to essential services for all citizens.

A critical aspect addressed in the meeting was the preparation of a special action plan for strengthening road infrastructure in flood-prone areas, a recurring challenge in parts of the state. Chief Minister Adityanath authorised the judicious use of Disaster Relief Funds for these crucial repairs and reinforcements, demonstrating a proactive stance towards climate resilience. Furthermore, recognising the region’s burgeoning potential for pilgrimage tourism, senior officials from the Tourism Department provided updates on development initiatives at various religious sites. In response, the Chief Minister directed the PWD to ensure seamless road connectivity to all temples and religious destinations, instructing prompt processing of proposals submitted by public representatives in this regard. This integrated approach not only promotes economic growth through tourism but also enhances accessibility for all, including the elderly and those with mobility challenges, contributing to more equitable cities.

Describing public representatives as the “true brand ambassadors of progress,” Chief Minister Adityanath urged them to maintain close contact with their constituents, understanding their developmental aspirations and effectively conveying these to the government. He reiterated that public convenience, safety, and prosperity form the core of all government policies, emphasising the need for active monitoring and resolution of bottlenecks in ongoing development projects. This collaborative governance model, empowering local leaders and integrating community needs into planning, is instrumental in building a future-ready Uttar Pradesh where infrastructure development is both sustainable and serves the holistic well-being of its diverse population.
