Motihari Set For PM Modis Visit, Unveiling Rs 7,200 Crore Airport Projects
Motihari is set to become a hub of transformative development as Bihar receives a substantial investment exceeding ₹7,200 crore for diverse infrastructure and rural upliftment projects. This comprehensive initiative encompasses significant advancements in rail, road, digital technology, and fisheries, alongside direct financial support for women-led Self-Help Groups. The strategic outlay aims to bolster connectivity, foster economic equity, and propel sustainable growth across the state, laying the groundwork for a more prosperous and inclusive future.
The extensive development agenda includes a significant push for modernising Bihar’s railway network. Key projects involve the dedication of automatic signalling systems on the Samastipur-Bachhwara rail line, promising more efficient train operations and reduced energy consumption. Furthermore, the doubling of the Darbhanga-Thalwara and Samastipur-Rambhadrapur rail lines, part of the Darbhanga-Samastipur doubling project valued at over ₹580 crore, will substantially enhance train operation capacity and mitigate delays. Future plans also include the development of critical infrastructure for the maintenance of advanced train sets at Patliputra, alongside automatic signalling on the Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin rail line and an upgrade of its traction system, all designed to improve speed, efficiency, and overall connectivity for passengers and freight alike.
Concurrently, a major impetus is being given to road infrastructure, crucial for seamless movement and economic integration. The foundation stone will be laid for the 4-laning of the Ara bypass of NH-319, which connects Ara-Mohania NH-319 and Patna-Buxar NH-922, ensuring smoother connectivity and reduced travel times. Additionally, the 4-lane Parariya to Mohania section of NH-319, valued at over ₹820 crore, is being inaugurated, promising improved freight and passenger movement. Another vital project includes a 2-lane road with paved shoulders from Sarwan to Chakai of NH-333C, which will serve as a key link facilitating goods and people movement between Bihar and Jharkhand, fostering regional economic growth.
In a move to foster a knowledge-based economy and promote digital inclusion, new Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facilities are being inaugurated at Darbhanga, alongside a state-of-the-art Incubation Facility at Patna. These centres are designed to promote the IT/ITES/ESDM industry and nurture the tech startup ecosystem, encouraging innovation, intellectual property rights, and product development, thereby boosting software and service exports. Complementing this, significant strides are being made in strengthening Bihar’s fisheries and aquaculture sector, with the launch of modern infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. This includes new fish hatcheries, biofloc units, ornamental fish farming, integrated aquaculture units, and fish feed mills, poised to generate employment opportunities, enhance fish production, and accelerate socio-economic development in rural areas.
Further reinforcing the commitment to equitable development, substantial financial assistance is being extended to rural communities. Approximately ₹400 crore will be released to around 61,500 Self-Help Groups in Bihar under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna-National Rural Livelihoods Mission, with a special focus on empowering women-led development initiatives. In a significant boost to housing accessibility, keys will be handed over to beneficiaries as part of the Griha Pravesh ceremony for 12,000 individuals, and over ₹160 crore will be released to 40,000 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin. These integrated projects collectively aim to uplift communities, enhance living standards, and drive comprehensive, sustainable development across Bihar.
