The comprehensive expansion of Shirdi Airport encompasses a new air traffic control building, an integrated cargo facility, and an expanded terminal building. These vital upgrades are being fast-tracked to ensure full operational readiness before the commencement of the upcoming Kumbh Mela. The urgency reflects the administration’s commitment to facilitating seamless travel and logistics, underscoring the airport’s pivotal role in supporting large-scale events and regional economic activity. Efforts are underway to deploy additional resources to meet the stringent timelines.
Shirdi Airport holds a crucial strategic position, being the closest air facility to the major urban centres of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
