Commuters have voiced their desire for longer operational hours, particularly those working late shifts, emphasizing the convenience and safety a midnight metro service would offer. However, a Maha Metro executive informed media that no such plans are currently underway. Officials explained that the high maintenance charges associated with metro operations would lead to financial losses if additional trips were introduced without sufficient passenger volume, impacting the overall financial health of the public transport system. While an immediate extension is not feasible, officials confirmed positive developments in other service enhancements.
Metro frequency on both routes will increase from seven to five minutes in coming months.
